Mobile App for Field Technicians

Offline-first job management for 120 technicians, cutting paperwork and saving 9 hours per tech per week.

Field Service

The Challenge

Technicians spent their mornings at the office collecting paper job sheets and their evenings writing reports. Dispatchers had no real-time visibility.

What We Built

An offline-first mobile app: job assignment, parts lookup, photo capture, signature collection and automatic sync. Dispatchers get a live map and real-time status.

Offline-First Job Execution

Technicians download their route in the morning and work fully offline on site: they read the job sheet, log steps, capture before-and-after photos and collect the customer signature. As soon as the connection returns, everything syncs automatically, with no manual retyping.

Parts and Photo Capture

Each job links directly to the parts list, so the technician checks availability and reserves the right items before leaving. Photos are geotagged and time-stamped, giving the office and the customer a reliable record of every visit.

Dispatcher Live Map

Dispatchers watch all 120 technicians on one map with live status: en route, on site, waiting or done. When a job is cancelled or an emergency comes in, the nearest available technician is reassigned in minutes instead of hours.

Technical Approach

The app stores data locally on the device and syncs in the background the moment a connection returns. A conflict rule keeps the on-site record of the technician as the source of truth, and every sync is encrypted end to end over a secure API.

Offline Sync and Conflict Resolution

Because many sites have no signal, the queue of completed jobs is held on the device and flushed in order once online. The system merges changes by job and timestamp, so two technicians never overwrite each other reports and the office always sees the latest state.

The Result

Techs start their day at the first job site. Each saves about 9 hours a week, and reporting is now automatic.

Client Feedback

Our technicians are on the first job by eight, and our office finally sees where everyone is. The weekly nine hours per person went straight back into service. — Operations Manager
